On Monday at around 10:00 PM, I felt severe pain in the left side of my chest, my heartbeat was very fast, my head was pounding and I felt dizzy and nauseous. I went straight to Caboolture Hospital’s emergency department. When I arrived, after providing my information, the staff told me to sit outside and wait. I waited for more than half an hour, but the pain in my chest became sharper and I started to have difficulty breathing — I felt like I couldn’t breathe at all. I went back to the counter and told them I was very unwell, I was short of breath and very nauseous, and I needed help as soon as possible. One of the staff then took me inside to have blood tests and a chest X-ray done. After that, they pushed me back outside to the waiting area and told me to wait for my results there. My head kept hurting badly, and my heart kept hurting with sharp pains. They gave me Panadol while I waited. I ended up sitting there until 2:00 AM without any answer about what was wrong with me.
I suffer from arthritis and degenerative disc disease in my back and neck, so sitting for hours caused me excruciating pain and numbness in my legs. I begged them to let me lie down but they told me to just keep waiting. I was so distressed that I asked the staff if I could go home, and she said, ‘OK, you can go home.’ I was exhausted, disappointed, and in pain, so I went home feeling completely defeated.
About an hour after I got home, the stabbing pain came back, I felt very nauseous and I was terrified, so I returned to the hospital again, still in excruciating pain. I met the same staff member and told her I was in severe pain, I couldn’t breathe, I was very dizzy and I couldn’t walk properly. After taking my information once again, she told me to sit and wait outside. I lay down across the chairs because I couldn’t sit up anymore. They gave me another dose of Panadol and I lay there until 8:00 AM. I was so exhausted, hungry, and in pain all over my body that I started crying and decided to leave again. I felt that if I was going to die, I would rather die at home than wait there to die in so much agony.

A huge thank you to all the staff involved in the perioperative unit for making my procedure go as smoothly and comfortably as possible. There were at least half a dozen people I saw from check-in to the op, and each was as caring and supportive as anytime could be. The staff never fail to show the utmost compassion and professional at all times. I could blame the anaesthesia for forgetting all your names, bit I'm just not great with names unfortunately. Bless you guys, you.do an incredible job.

Got kicked out of the hospital for visiting my friend and threatened with security for no reason couldn't even grab my stuff and say bye to her while she was in the children's ward. And took her phone without even asking for permission, it was just one nurse who did all of this but really messed up I don't think I'll ever get my stuff back or get to see her while she's in hospital, really rude nurse. Couldn't even let us be in the room while she ate when her carer knows me very well

I presented to the Caboolture emergency department. The staff were AMAZING. I was experiencing a very vulnerable and heartbreaking event. They were so kind and caring and made sure I felt as comfortable as possible. They kept me overnight and I had surgery the next day. I was home within 24 hours. Very informative, very caring and overall I am so happy and pleased with the experience. Having staff that genuinely care about you and your situation is something that any patient is looking for and Caboolture hospital definitely has these staff.

I just want to shout out Pamela the Midwife in the birth suite who made my experience better than I ever could imagine. I had a rough pregnancy and ended up being induced I was pretty nervous being a first time mum but the environment that Pamela created made me feel so much better, even with a failed epidural I don’t think I could’ve asked for a better birth. Pamela stayed with me the whole time even through breaks and once she had finished I felt like I was in the best hands possible.
